Alundra is an action-adventure RPG developed by Matrix Software for Sony's Playstation console. Alundra is best known for its unique story and balanced gameplay. Similar to the Zelda series, gameplay involves platforming, adventuring, RPG elements and solving difficult puzzles. The story revolves around the main protagonist, an elf from the clan Elna named Alundra. In a series of dreams, Alundra is told that a powerful demon has awaken after a 1000 year sleep and that no one can stop him. In this dream, Alundra is referred to as a Releaser and a Wizard. The game is well known for its musical score and has earned generally positive reviews from the gaming press. It currently holds a 85.36% score on Game Rankings. Alundra was released in Japan on April 11, 1007 and on December 31, 1997 in North America. The European version wasn't released until June 5, 1998. A sequel, Alundrea 2, was released in 1999.
