Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest is the second home console game in the Castlevania franchise. It takes place seven years after the first game. Simon Belmont has sustained severet injuries to his back from his encounter with Dracula in the previous game, and must again defeat the vampire lord.He is tasked with collecting Dracula's body parts, hidden in five different mansions. After collecting them, he is tasked with putting Dracula back together and ressurecting, then defeating him to dispel a curse placed on his family line.

The game added many new elements to the Castlevania franchise, such as towns populated with NPCs, a day and night system, and experience based level up system, and the ability to purchase items from NPCs for 'hearts'. It also added more secondary weapons in comparison to the first game. In addition, Dracula's body parts can be used as equipment to aid Simon on his quest to defeat the vampire lord.

The game was released in Japan on August 28th, 1987, in the US on December 1st, 1988, and Europe on April 27th, 1990. It recieved a 7.1 rating on Gamefaqs, and has no rating on Gamerankings.
