Castlevania: Curse of Darkness is set after the events of Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse. The player takes control of Hector, a demon forgemaster who worked under Dracula at one point, but left his employ during the events of Castlevania 3. With Dracula's defeat, Hector expected to be able to live a 'human' life, but the curse Dracula had set on the land and the Belmont family has ravaged the coutryside. Now, Dracula has returned to life once more. Hector's fiancee is executed because she is believed to be a witch, and it turns out that Dracula's henchmen had a hand in it! Now, Hector is out to stop Dracula and avenge is fallen love. 

The game differs from other Castlevania games in that it is fully 3-D, and most of the game takes place outside of Dracula's castle. In addition, Hector has the ability to forge 'Innocent Devils' that aid him in combat. They serve multiple roles, healing, dealing damage, and performing anti-air maneuvers, for example.

The game was released on Novemeber 5th, 2005 in the United States, November 24th, 2005 in Japan, and February 17th, 2006 in Europe. It recieved a 7.1 rating on Gamefaqs.com and has no rating on Gamerankings.com.
