Castlevania: Dracula X is set in medieval Europe, after the hero Simon Belmont supposedly sealed away Dracula for all of eternity. People have become complacement and lazy with the defeat of the vampire lord, and this has allowed evil individuals to ressurect him. Dracula has sworn revenge on the Belmont family, and kidnaps the girlfriend of Simon's great grandson, locking her away in his castle. Richter Belmont swears revenge and sets out to save his girlfriend, and defeat the dark vampire lord.

The game has two 'paths', both leading to face Dracula. One takes the player through a 'back way' into Dracula's castle, while the other charges straight through the vampire count's front door. The game itself was seen as a dissapointment, but it was capable of holding it's own. It recieved a ranking of 73.75% on Gamerankings.com.

The game was released on July 21st, 1995 in Japan, September 1995 in the United States, and on February 22nd, 1996 in Europe.
