Dragon Quest, called Dragon Warrior in North America, is a console RPG developed by Chunsoft and published by Enix for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Dragon Quest was the first game in the now incredibly popular 'Dragon Quest' series that is now up to well over 8 mainstream games and countless knock-offs. The game's success led to its remake on numerous platforms including MSX, Shawp X68000, Super Nintendo, Game boy Color and Mobile phones. The game's story centers around an unnamed Hero who is a warrior and the descendent of the legendary Erdrick. The game's antagonist is a dragon from Charlock who is called 'The Dragonlord'. The game's original sound track was composed by Koichi Sugiyama, who also composed the music for every other Dragon Quest game. The game was released in Japan on May 27, 1987 and in North America on August 1989.
