The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, usually called LOTRO, is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game set in the Fantasy World of J.R.R Tolkein's Middle Earth. The game's overall storyline is consistent with the book's but since the game is an MMO, there is a great deal more emphasis on gameplay than story. Those familiar with the MMORPG genre should know what to expect, as the game offers traditional cookie cutter features such as crafting, PvP, PvE, Dungeons and the works. The game was released by Turbine Inc to compete against the world renowned World of Warcraft for a peice of the lucrative MMORPG Pie. Fans of the Lord of the Rings books would should enjoy the game, but unfortunately the game doesn't have nearly as many features as other popular MMORPGs. Even though the game didn't attract too many subscribers it was still well received. The game earned an 87% from GameRankings.
