Baldur's Gate is a role playing game set in the Forgotten Realms universe. It was developed by BioWare and published by Black Isle Studios for the PC. The game uses the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition rule set with slight modifications. Players start with control of a single weak character but as they progress, new weapons, armor, spells, and additional player controlled allies become available. The plot revolves around the city of Baldur's Gate and the surrounding Sword Coast region where the player and his/her friend Imoen grew up as orphans. There is a strange iron shortage in the region and it falls upon you and the assorted allies you make to solve the problem. Baldur's Gate received positive reviews from almost all major publications earning it a score 0f 92% on Game Rankings.
