Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception takes place during a fictional war between the countries of Aurelia and Leasath. Leasath has attacked Aurelia using a massive, flying fortress codenamed 'GLEIPNIR' and the Aurelian armed forces were unable to fight Leasath's armed forces off. The player takes control of one of the remaining ace pilots, code-named 'Gryphus 1' as he attempts to liberate his country.
