Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere takes a departure from the usual plot of the game, taking place during a massive war between multinational corporations aiming to control the world and their fight over a special fighter plane named the X-49 Nighthawk.  The government as we know it has been dissolved, and the world is run by these constantly bickering super corporations. The player takes control of a pilot fighting in these wars.
