Players take control of Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong in this platforming game where the goal is to collect as many coins and bananas as you can while traversing through many levels. Players are aided by animal friends, saved from crates, and special barrels littered throughout the zones. The goal of the game is to reach the evil King K. Rool's castle and defeat him, saving Donkey Kong's island home. The game was very popular and managed to cement Donkey Kong as a Nintendo franchise, leading to many more Donkey Kong games and Donkey Kong character cameos. It did very well, scoring about 90% across multiple video game ranking websites.
