Resident Evil: Survivor takes a turn from the survival horror aspects of the core games, instead being an arcade-style lightgun game. The player takes on the role of an amnesiac protagonist Throughout the game the player fights off a horde of undead enemies as they attempt to uncover their identity and regain their memories. The gameplay uses a lightgun, which was new at the time. The player moved around using the lightgun's controls, and then when they depressed a button on the gun it brough up a crosshair and allowed them to shoot at enemies.
The game was released on January 27th, 2000 in Japan, March 31st, 2000 in Europe, and August 30th, 2000 in the United States.
