Players are able to pick between 8 characters at the start of the game, all of them coming from Nintendo franchises. There are 4 hidden characters that must be unlocked through the game, also from Nintendo games. Players are able to duke it out in 1 player, 2 player, 3 player, or 4 player mode, and there are many colorful stages with music stemming from the game they originate from. Super Smash Bros. is universally acclaimed for its multiplayer action, and has scored an average of 79% on Metacritic.
