Kirby's Epic Yarn is the 10th installment in the popular platformer series and the first Kirby game on a home console (as opposed to a handheld) since 2003. The story with Kirby eating a magic tomato called a 'Metamato' that belongs to the wizard Yin-Yarn. The wizard sucks Kirby into the magic world of Patch Land where everything is made of yarn. Kirby is informed by Prince Fluff that he must find 7 pieces of magic yarn to save Patch Land and defeat the evil Yin-Yarn. The game is played with the Wii remote held sideways, and Kirby's main attack is a whip ability. The usual ability to suck up enemies and absorb their powers is not available in Patch Land. Kirby's Epic Yarn has been well received. At an average critic rating of around 89%, it is the most highly rated Kirby game ever released. The game was released on October 14, 2010 in Japan, and on October 17, 2010 in North America. Sales numbers stand at over 400,000 to date.
