Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen, called Densetsu no Oga Batoru 'Legendary Ogre Battle' in Japan, is a strategy RPG for the SNES. Even though the game was critically acclaimed, Enix of America, the game's publisher, only sold 25,000 copies, making it one of the rarest highly rated video games of all time. Ogre Battle's story begins in the outskirts of the Zeteginan Empire where the protagonist, named by the player, is leading a revolution against the empire because the empire has turned to evil through the use of black magic by the mage Rashidi. The gameplay is a mix between real time strategy and traditional RPG elements , which results in a unique gaming experience. The game's title was inspired by the rock group Queen's second album which had two songs, one titled 'Ogre Battle' and the second 'The March of the Black Queen". Ogre Battle was well received and earned an 81% from GameRankings. The game was released in Japan on March 12, 1993 and in North America in 1995.
