Resident Evil 2, called Biohazard 2 in Japan, is a survival horror game and is the second title in the now critically acclaimed Resident Evil franchise. Like its predecessor, the game has pre-rendered graphics, fixed camera angles and numerous puzzles that need to be solved in order to progress. Another major aspect of Resident Evil 2 that is now a common theme in Resident Evil titles is limited ammunition. Players have to conserve their ammo and dodge zombies at times if they expect to beat the game. Like most games in the franchise, the game is set in Raccoon City where the local populace have turned into zombies due to a biological weapon known as the 'T-Virus'. Resident Evil 2 was released in North America on January 21st, 1998, in Japan on January 29th, 1998 and in Europe on May 8th, 1998. The game was very well received as it earned an impressive 92% on GameRankings.
