Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories is a sequel to the original Disgaea and was developed by Nippon Ichi Software for the Playstation 2 and Playstation Portable consoles. Like the original Disgaea, the sequel is a tactical role playing game commonly referred to as a 'tactics' game. Gameplay involves a series of turn based battles where the player controls several units on the battlefield. The game is divided into 13 chapters, each with multiple maps which must be completed to move on to the next chapter. The story follows the adventures of Adell, a human who has been training for years to defeat the powerful Overlord Zenon. Zenon conquered the land of Veldime fifteen years ago and has spread a curse that turns the human population into demons. The PSP port , titled Disgaea 2: Dark Hero Days features bonus material not found in the original. The game received generally positive reviews and currently has an average rating of 85%. Disgaea 2 was released on February 23, 2006 in Japan and on August 29, 2006 in North America. The European and Australian releases followed soon after. The PSP version was released in 2009.
