Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, called Dragon Quest VIII Sora to Umi to Daichi to Norowareshi Himegimi in Japan, is a console RPG for the Playstation 2 developed by Level-5 and published by Square Enix. It is the eight mainstream title of the critically acclaimed and enormously popular 'Dragon Quest' series, previously known as the 'Dragon Warrior' series. Journey of the Cursed King utilization of cel-shading graphics for the game's characters and scenery makes the game's world look gorgeous. The game's main character is a player named Hero who is a royal guard of Trodain who journeys with his friends to hunt down and stop an evil jester named Dhoulmagus who stole a magical scepter. The game's music score was composed by Koichi Sugiyama, the series veteran. The original sound track itself has some excellent tunes and is well worth listening to. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King was released in Japan on November 27, 2004, in North America on November 15, 2005 and in Europe on April 13, 2006. Upon release the game was dubbed as the fourth best game of all time by Famitsu magazine and received an impressive score of 89.79% on Gamerankings.
