Final Fantasy VII is a console RPG developed and published by Square originally for the Playstation. The game is the seventh installment in the critically acclaimed 'Final Fantasy' RPG franchise. Final Fantasy VII is the first title in the series to use 3D computer graphics, as it's the first of the series to the released on the Playstation. The game is set in a dystopian world with the main character being a mercenary named Cloud Strife who joins up with a group of like minded individuals to stop an evil corporation named 'Shinra', which drains life from the planet in order to use it as an energy source. The plot however, evolves to a point where Cloud and his allies have to fight the game's antagonist, Sephiroth. The game was released for the Playstation in Japan on January 31, 1997, in North America on September 7th, 1997 and in Europe on November 17, 1997. The game was later released for the PC on June 24, 1998. The game was enormously successful, as it sold a whopping 9.7 million copies worldwide, making it the best selling 'Final Fantasy' game of all time. It earned an impressive score of 92% from GameRankings and is widely considered by numerous publications as one of the 'best games of all time'. The game's soundtrack was composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu who's track 'One Winged Angel' for the game became one of his most recognizable contributions to the Final Fantasy series.
