Resident Evil: Outbreak was the first online installment of the acclaimed Resident Evil franchise. It took place during the initial outbreak of the zombie-creating T-Virus in Racoon City. The player would take control of a 'every day person' who was cought in the middle of the events. The player must make their way through the infected city, fighting off zombified animals and citizens in an attempt to escape the city before the United States Government deals with the threat imposed by the T-virus with a tactical missile strike. The game had an online multiplayer mode, which is now defunct.

The game was released on December 11th, 2003 in Japan, March 31st, 2004 in the United States, and September 17th, 2004 in Europe. It recieved a rating of 70.1% on gamerankings.com
