Final Fantasy 12 Original Soundtrack OST
Platforms: Playstation 2 (PS2)
Final Fantasy XII, called Fainaru Fataji Tuerubu in Japan, is the twelfth installment of the incredibly popular 'Final Fantasy' RPG franchise. Perhaps the game's most unique aspect was the innovative real time combat system dubbed the 'Gambit system', which allows players to set simple macros to control their characters for them in combat. Like previous Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy XII has summoned monsters, Chocobos, and Airships. This particular installment is set in the fantasy world of Ivalice, the same world that Final Fantasy Tactics was set in, where the ambitious empire of Archadia is aggressively expanding their borders with the Kingdom of Dalmasca caught up in the middle of the conflict. The game's protagonist is an orphan named Vaan who gets caught up in the struggle and ends up aiding Princess Ashe reclaim her birthright as the queen of Dalmasca in order to rally against the tyrannical Archadian Empire. The game sold incredibly well and earned itself numerous 'Game of the Year' awards across many categories. Unlike other Final Fantasy games, much of Final Fantasy XII's soundtrack was composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and a few others rather than Nobuo Uematsu, who only contributed to the game's theme song. Final Fantasy XII was released in Japan on March 16, 2006, in North America on October 31, 2006 and in Europe on February 23, 2007. The game earned an impressive score of 91% on Gamerankings and became one of the best selling Playstation 2 games of all time.
