Fire Emblem IX: Path of Radiance, called Faia Emuburemu: Soen No Kiseki 'Trail of the Blue Flame' in Japan, is a tactical RPG developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Gamecube. The game is the ninth installment to the critically acclaimed and popular 'Fire Emblem' series. This particular installment was the first one to feature voice acting and 3D cel-shaded graphics. The game takes place in the fantasy continent of Tellius, a place unrelated to previous Fire Emblem games. The game's protagonist is a boy named Ike and begins the game as the most recent recruit to his father's mercenary company, called 'The Greil Mercenaries'. The game was released in Japan on April 20th, 2005, in North America on October 17, 2005 and in Europe on November 4th, 2005. The game was ultimately well received as Fire Emblem IX: Path of Radiance earned an impressive 88.38% on GameRankings.
